The Federal Environment Agency operates seven air quality stations where background pollution, long-distance transport of air pollutants and trend of air quality are collected. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2021 and the evolution of pollutant pollution over the last 30 years. The limit values for particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide, as well as for heavy metals and benzo(a)pyrene were met at all measuring points in 2021. At most measuring points, the lowest loads so far were recorded. Ozone pollution in 2021 has been below the average of the last decades. Nevertheless, the target values for ozone to protect human health and vegetation were exceeded at two and five monitoring points respectively.
