The annual report documents the results of the air quality measurements of the federal states and the Federal Environment Agency for 2021. The measurement results show: For the pollutants NO2, PM10 and PM2.5, the second lowest load to date (after 2020) has been measured. Ozone pollution has been below the level of recent years. The IG-L limit value for the annual mean value for nitrogen dioxide was exceeded at seven measuring points, the sum of the limit value and the margin of tolerance was met for the first time. For benzo(a)pyrene, PM10, sulphur dioxide and dust precipitation (including lead), isolated limit values were measured according to IG-L. The target values for ozone were exceeded in much of Austria. The IG-L limit and target values for PM2.5, carbon monoxide, heavy metal and benzene were met throughout Austria in 2021.
