The results of the project Alminventar National Park Hohe Tauern Carinthia are available in 1999 and are surprising: 82 % of the national park area is no longer used for farming purposes. An extensive sheep pasture takes place on 8 percent of the entire protected area. The areas grazed by livestock occupy 10 percent of the national park area, of which 794 hectares are intensively cultivated to very intensively.
