Amphibian mapping on the pastures of the Gesäuse National Park

As part of an amphibian monitoring under the LIFE project, in 2007 a Preliminary study of selected alpine pastures in the Gesäuse National Park. One of the priority Life goals are the protection of species and biotopes. For the survival of amphibian populations, however, extensively contiguous areas are important to a network of terrestrial and aquatic habitats with few barriers to spread. On the alpine pastures examined in the national park, the traditional grazing ensures that land is kept open and thus creates habitat for many animal species.
