This bachelor thesis deals with the occurrence of the Austrian Subendemit Zygina hypermaculata (Johanniskrautzikade) in the Gesäuse National Park. Zygina hypermaculata lives monophagically on the feed plant Hypericum maculatum (Johanniskraut). Due to their small-scale distribution, endemic species are particularly sensitive to changes in their habitat. Zygina hypermaculata is classified in the Austrian Red List in the category VU (vulnerable). With the help of a distribution map of Hypericum maculatum in the National Park, known sites of the feed plant were checked for Zygina hypermaculata. Nine excursions were completed in which a total of 65 new sites with animals within the national park’s borders were identified. By counting the animals found, the herd situation was determined and examined for their elevation. It can be found from the montane to subalpine zone. A distribution map was created with all historical and recent finds of the species Zygina hypermaculata in the Gesäuse National Park as well as in Austria.
