In addition to the management plans of the two European Protected Areas Neusiedler See Northeastern Leithagebirge and Zurndorfer Eichenwald, which define the removal of the wooded zneophytes as a priority objective and priority measure for several habitats and sub-areas, the project carried out a comprehensive survey and GIS mapping of areas with occurrences of Eschen-Ahorn (Acer negundo), God’s tree (Ailathus altissima), oil pasture (Elaeagnus angustifolia) and Robinie (Robinia pseudacacia). Building on the survey, a strategy for combating and repressing the above-mentioned wood neophytes was developed. The most suitable methods for combating and repressing the above-mentioned wood neophytes were collected in the course of literature research and best practice examples and evaluated with regard to their usefulness. As a concrete result, there is now a spatially and temporally differentiated catalogue of measures or management plan in the form of a final report including overview and detail maps and an infofolder as the basis for control measures. The affected stakeholders of the area were informed about the project at the beginning and after the results were received. During the project, awareness-raising measures and public relations were carried out.
