The online catalogue provides information on the holdings of the library and the archives of the Geological Federal Institute. The country’s largest scientific library systematically and continuously documents geoscientific works in Austria.
Journals, books and the extensive geoscientific map collection are complemented by university papers, “grey literature” and archival materials. These documents document the history and activities of the geological state service, which was founded in 1849 as a k.k. geological institution. The historically conditioned stock with a focus on the former Crown countries — today’s countries of Central and Eastern Europe — is continuously adapted to the needs of global and interdisciplinary geoscientific questions.
The library of the Geologische Bundesanstalt operates in cooperation with national and international networks and is in the correspondence exchange with more than 500 partner libraries in Germany and abroad.
The database about the entries (catalogisat) in the online catalog of the GBA can be freely used (see OGD license). The GBA’s terms and conditions apply to the use of full text documents in the PDF download area (see www.geologie.ac.at).
