The 2008 report contains the following main findings: 420 species and 423 species were identified in the pane-builder’s pot. The Langgries proved to be particularly “yielding” with the following special features: Pempelia palumbella is a heat-loving species that does not exceed 950 m SH in Styria. Phiaris helveticana was previously only found in the alternating area before almost 100 years old and was found in the Langgries. Here you can also find one of only three Styrian populations of the bear spinner Tyria jacobeae.
The images in the Gesäuse have been taking place since 2005, especially with live light traps. From 2005 to 2008, a total of 729 species were able to detect valuers (approximately 18,300 observed and determined individuals).
Some species are strongly declining from unknown cause. Common species have formed very strong populations in avalanche channels. The enormous potential for destruction of avalanches creates open habitats without human intervention that contributes to a rich insect habitat.
