In the train of end-mites research in the Gesäuse National Park, soil trap material from previous projects was reprocessed. The evaluation yielded 2 female specimens of a Tectusa, probably belonging to the species T. montana. This localdemic species has so far only been detected by the Hochreichhart (Seckau Tauern). The other known endemic Tectusa species from Austria (T. carnica, T. strupiana, T. holdhausi) also have very small areas. This and other factors gave rise to the suspicion that the specimens of the Lugauer could even be an independent, previously undescribed species or subspecies. In order to clarify this situation, a targeted search was carried out in 2019, but was not yet able to deliver results due to the short duration of the investigation.
