Species richness and functional properties of plant wasps (Symphyta) in the Gesäuse National Park

This thesis provides an overview of the previously recorded plant wasp fauna of the Gesäuse National Park. The current list of species of plant wasps now comprises a total of 237 species. From any other area of similar size within Austria, such many plant wasp species are known. The high number of species in the study area reflects the great heterogeneity of the habitats that occur there, but above all the high intensity of the targeted search using Coplementary collection methods. 19 new larvae-feed plant combinations were observed. According to the Red List of plant wasps in Germany, 19 % of the plant wasp species previously detected in the Gesäuse National Park were considered to be endangered, extremely rare or extinct or lost.
