The evaluation of by-catches from soil trap studies for the inventory of spider and insect fauna led to the documentation of 5 species of pointed mouse in the Gesäuse National Park. A total of 379 individuals were registered at 118 sites. With 191 animals, the dwarf-tip mouse was the most common species, followed by the Waldspitz mouse with 115 animals. The Alpenspitzmouse, which Austria is particularly responsible for preserving, has been reconsidered at 36 localities. Notable is a sympatric and syntope occurrence of swamp and water-tip mouse on the Johnsbach as well as on the Waterfallweg.
