The aim of this thesis is to determine the status quo of tourism in the Alpine region Na-tionalpark Gesäuse in order to be able to derive potentials, but without developing a concrete marketing concept. It is also intended to define a possible policy orientation guideline, with detailed research in the relevant ecotourism literature proved adequate.
Further basics for the analysis were a tourist activity, which took place in autumn 2013, as well as interviews with tourism managers in the Alpine region. After matching the results, a destina-tion image was created, which is characterised by the unique mountain landscape, including the white water, but also by the hospitality. It is also evident that the Alpine region Gesäuse National Park is chosen as a leisure and holiday destination due to its unspoilt nature and sporting activities.
