Dataset description

With the renovation of the old town, which was decided in 1972, the city of Vienna can define protected zones independently of the preservation of monuments and thus protect characteristic ensembles from demolition or overshaping. Protection zones are shown in the land application and development plan. These are those areas in which the preservation of the characteristic cityscape is to be guaranteed. This concerns: — its natural conditions, — its historical structures, — its formative structure and — the diversity of functions.
