Dataset description

The report provides an overview of the air quality situation in Austria in 2014; it is based on the measurements of the offices of the state governments and the Federal Environment Agency. In 2014, many exceedances of the limit values for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and target values for ozone were registered, occasionally also for particulate matter (PM10), nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, benzo(a)pyrene and dust precipitation. The limit and target values for carbon monoxide, PM2.5, lead, arsenic, cadmium and nickel in PM10 and for benzene were met. Exceeding limit values for NO2 occurred mainly on busy roads, in fine dust, especially in Styria, Linz and Vienna. For almost all pollutants in 2014 — compared to previous years — there was a very low load, especially as a result of the warm winter and frequent snow and rainfall in the south.
