The annual report provides an overview of the air quality measurements of the federal states and the Federal Environment Agency for 2017. The measurement results show: The limit value for the annual average value for nitrogen dioxide in accordance with the Immissionsschutzgesetz-Luft (IG-L) was exceeded at 28 monitoring stations in eight federal states. The main cause of the load is diesel motor vehicles. In the case of particulate matter (PM10), the IG-L limit for the daily mean value was not met at six measuring stations in Graz and Leibnitz. For benzo(a)pyrene, sulphur dioxide and dust precipitation (incl. lead), isolated exceedances were measured according to IG-L. The target values for ozone were exceeded in the majority of Austria. The IG-L limit and target values for carbon monoxide, particulate matter (PM2.5), heavy metals and benzene were met throughout Austria in 2017.
