Annual report of air quality measurements in Austria 2018.

The annual report presents the results of the air quality measurements of the federal states and the Federal Environment Agency for 2018. The measurement results show: The IG-L limit value for the annual average for nitrogen dioxide was exceeded at 21 monitoring stations in seven federal states. The main causes are diesel vehicles, and limit values are exceeded predominantly at traffic-congested locations. In the case of particulate matter (PM10), the IG-L limit for the daily mean value was not met at three measuring points in Graz. For benzo(a)pyrene, sulphur dioxide and dust precipitation (incl. lead), isolated exceedances were measured according to IG-L. The target values for ozone were exceeded in the majority of Austria. The IG-L limit and target values for carbon monoxide, PM2.5, heavy metals and benzene were met throughout Austria in 2018.
