The annual report documents the results of the air quality measurements of the federal states and the Federal Environment Agency for 2019. The measurement results show: The IG-L limit value for the annual average for nitrogen dioxide was exceeded at 19 monitoring stations in seven federal states. The main causes are diesel vehicles, and limit values are exceeded at traffic-congested locations. For benzo(a)pyrene, sulphur dioxide and dust precipitation (incl. lead), isolated exceedances were measured according to IG-L. The target values for ozone were exceeded in the majority of Austria. The IG-L limit and target values for particulate matter (PM10), carbon monoxide, PM2.5, heavy metals and benzene were met throughout Austria in 2019.
