This report covers the results for projections of the air pollutants sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NOx), non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs), ammonia (NH3) and particulate matter (PM2.5) under the scenarios “with existing measures” (WEM) and “with additional measures” (WAM). It updates previous projections for air pollutants from 2019 (REP-0689).
The results for the WEM and WAM scenarios show significant emission reductions (based on fuel used) from 2005 to 2030 for all pollutants except NH3. The most substantial reduction — about 65 % (WEM) and about 66 % (WAM) — is projected for the pollutant NOx. Emission reductions for the other pollutants except NH3 range from 35 % to 53 % in the WEM scenario and from 35 % to 52 % in the WAM scenario. NH3 emissions are projected to increase by 10 % in the WEM scenario and to decrease by 1 % in the WAM scenario.
