In the report Biomass Combustion Plants, the Federal Environment Agency examines relevant factors for the air pollutant emissions of such plants in the power range from 400 kW to 10 MW. On the basis of examples, the state of the art is derived for the operation of the plants and for the measurement as well as for the reduction of air pollutants. The report shows that the plants that are regularly cleaned and maintained emit fewer air pollutants. When measuring emissions, the rules of measurement shall be applied. A higher measuring frequency for all plants as well as continuous measurement of the pollutants dust, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide for plants with a power range of 10 MW is recommended. In order to reduce dust emissions, the installation of secondary measures for installations of 1 MW or more is in line with the state of the art.
