From 1 January 2022, Paragraph 17(5) of the NÖ Nature Conservation Act 2000 prohibits the spreading of plants of alien species in the wild. As an explanation for the practical application of this provision, a guide on the use of local trees has been drawn up, which also contains a natural demarcation of four sites in Lower Austria. According to the definition, “territory” refers to those plants that originate from populations of native species that have increased over a long period of time in many generational sequences in a particular natural area and in which genetic differentiation can be assumed from populations of the same species in other natural spaces.
