A surface water body is defined as a uniform and significant section of a surface water. Surface water bodies serve as planning tools: For the planning process, i.e. for the assessment of the effects of water pollution, risk analysis, monitoring, gradual achievement of objectives, planning of measures, etc., surface waters should be subdivided into appropriate water sections. The bodies of water constitute the smallest management unit in surface water, to which the statements of the inventory, monitoring and action programmes refer. The state of data shall be in line with the 2015 National Water Management Plan (NMP) and shall be updated as appropriate after the publication of the NGP 2021.
