In the report “Emissionstrends 1990-2006” the Federal Environment Agency gives an overview of the emission trends of the following air pollutants in Austria: • Greenhouse gases — carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), fluorinated gases • ozone precursors — nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile hydrocarbons without methane (NMVOC), carbon monoxide (CO) • acidifying and eutrophising air pollutants — sulphur dioxide (SO2), ammonia (NH3), nitrogen oxides (NOx) • dust — total floating dust (TSP), particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) • Heavy metals — cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb) • persistent organic compounds (POPs). The main polluters are analysed and current emissions — data-compulsory environmental targets are compared. The data are based on the results of the Austrian Air Pollutant Inventory, which is carried out annually by the Federal Environment Agency.
