Energy-efficient cooling systems

In many industrial sectors, cooling systems are used for the removal of process heat. The choice of the right system depends on numerous influencing factors. On the basis of case studies from selected industrial companies, energy-efficient cooling technologies as well as their applications and optimisation potentials are described. These are assessed economically and ecologically. The energy consumption depends on the initial temperature, the intended final temperature, the respective cooling unit and medium as well as the consumers (pumps and fans). Compared to continuous cooling systems, circulation cooling systems have a higher specific energy consumption. Before selecting a cooling system, it should always be checked whether the heat generated can be used elsewhere.
