In order to fulfil the reporting obligation of the Monitoring Mechanism on greenhouse gas emission scenarios, the Federal Environment Agency calculated two scenarios for the period up to 2020: A scenario “with measures” takes into account already implemented measures, the second scenario “with additional measures” includes planned measures, which are expected to be implemented and will be effective by 2020. Since a significant proportion of greenhouse gas emissions are directly attributable to the nature and quantity of energy used, energy-economic data are necessary to produce the emission scenarios. These were compiled in cooperation with the Institute for Economic Research (WIFO), the Energy Economics Group of the Technical University of Vienna and the Austrian Energy Agency and summarised in the report “Energy Economic Input Data and Scenarios”.
