Dataset description

As a basis for the discussion of national climate policy, the Federal Environment Agency has prepared an accelerated scenario for energy development and greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 (WAM plus). This provides an overall analysis with a consistent storyline up to 2050. In addition, developments have been modelled for each sector, which require greater use of renewable energy sources and significantly increased energy efficiency, as well as structural changes. Central to this are a fixation of the energy transition as a socio-political objective and changes in lifestyle and consumer behaviour. The results show that measures taken after 2020 towards 2030 and 2050 energy and climate targets are leading to a shift in energy consumption, even if economic growth continues.
