In the 2010 Ring Trial of the Forum Schall, the focus was on the determination of repetitive and comparative limits in the measurement of sound emission. The ring test was carried out in the test rooms of the General Accident Insurance Institute in Vienna. The central task was to determine the sound power by measuring in the low-reflective room (sound radiation in the open air) and in the modified hall space. Thus, the two most common cases in practice for tests of sound power in situ were depicted. It was shown that the process in the modified reverberation room yields a significantly higher accuracy than indicated in ÖNORM EN ISO 3743-2. Measurements in the free field also achieve the expected accuracy according to ÖNORM EN ISO 3744 in the ring test. These findings can feed into national and international standardisation.
