In cooperation with the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG), the Federal Environment Agency analysed and summarised the current state of research on the impact of climate change on air quality. Changes due to climate change are expected for air pollutants ozone and particulate matter. Ozone is expected to increase concentrations in Europe. In combination with heat waves, negative health effects will increase. In the case of fine dust, the results are not quite as clear as the fine dust load depends on many factors, which also vary in seasonality. With regard to the application of model calculations for Austria, the experts conclude that these should be carried out in international cooperations.
