For the pollutants fine particulate matter (measured as PM10) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), isolated sulphur dioxide (SO2) has also occurred in recent years in Austria — as well as in other countries. European countries — widespread overruns. On the exceedance of limit values for PM10 and SO2 cross-border transport of pollutants in the extra-alpine Austria made a significant contribution (Environmental Federal Office 2005c, 2006a).
