Citizens can make a decisive contribution to the prevention of natural hazards, e.g. through technical measures during construction and refurbishment. Citizens who have not lived in a municipality for a long time are particularly challenged, because they often do not know the risks of natural hazards in the region. This is why too few measures are being taken for self-preparation. The study summarises easily feasible recommendations in order to better inform immigrants and migrants about their risk and possible protective measures. These recommendations are addressed to municipalities, voluntary fire brigades, organisations that take care of migrants, and the authorities responsible for protecting against natural hazards in the federal states and the federal states. Tips on what data subjects can do themselves as a precaution for protection against natural hazards are also included.
