Landfill gas survey 2013-2017.

In landfills where waste with high biological content has been deposited in the past, landfill gas is generated by the degradation of the organic substance containing greenhouse gas. The collection and treatment of the generated landfill gas can reduce emissions, thereby supporting the achievement of climate targets, in particular in the waste sector. Based on questionnaire surveys, the report describes the collection and treatment of landfill gas in the years 2013 to 2017 as well as the respective treatment routes. Assessments by operators as to the extent to which they have taken measures to irrigate or improve gas collection are presented. The report also provides information on the extent of temporary cover areas and on irrigation measures in landfills.
