Dataset description

This report examines greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions as well as the accumulated energy consumption over the entire life cycle of different electric passenger car drive systems compared to conventional drive systems. Only an overall consideration of environmental indicators enables statements about the environmental effects of the different drive systems. In terms of environmental indicators, purely electric cars perform significantly better than conventional diesel/petrol vehicles. The additional electric drive for hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicles results in an environmentally relevant improvement. Renewable electricity as an energy source can significantly increase these effects.
