Monitoring of habitat types and species of Community importance in Austria 2016-2018 and basic preparation of the report pursuant to Article 17 of the Habitats Directive in 2019. Final report. Part 2: Article 17 report

Every six years, the European Union and its Member States prepare a report on the status of habitat types and species of Community interest in accordance with Article 17 of the Habitats Directive. The Federal Environment Agency prepared the Austrian reports on behalf of the Länder in accordance with Article 17 of 2007, 2013 and currently 2019. This report presents the data base, methodology and results of the 2013-2018 report. Almost one fifth of the habitat types and one seventh of the species are in a favourable conservation status. Compared to the three reporting periods, the status of 70 % of species and 80 % of habitat types has not changed between 2000 and 2018. Conservation status improved for 3 % of habitat types and 10 % of species.
