Near-term forecast of Austrian greenhouse gas emissions for 2018.

The current EU MonMech Regulation (MMR — Monitoring Mechanism Regulation, 525/2013/EU) obliges Member States to submit their preliminary greenhouse gas emission estimates for reporting year X-1 (in this case 2018) to the European Commission by 31 July each year. The near-term projection of greenhouse gas emissions for 2018 was carried out using a simplified methodology and shows preliminary figures and the current trend for 2018. It is therefore subject to uncertainties and results may differ from the inventory published in January 2020. According to preliminary figures, approximately 79.1 million tonnes of greenhouse gases were emitted in Austria in 2018. Compared to 2017, this represents a decrease of 3.8 % and 3.2 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent respectively.
