New NPP at Dukovany site; Announcement of the project (EIA scoping), (special opinion): A new nuclear power plant is planned by ČEZ, a.s. at the Dukovany site in the Czech Republic. It is one or two reactors with an electrical output of up to 3,500 Mwe. They are expected to enter into operation from 2035 onwards and have a duration of at least 60 years. Four VVER440 reactors are ready at the existing Dukovany NPP site. An environmental impact assessment under Czech EIA law will be carried out for this project. The first step of this EIA procedure is the scoping procedure, which defines the subject matter of the investigation and the depth of investigation for the further EIA procedure. A scoping document was submitted (AMEC FOSTER WHEELER et al. 2016)- In order to assess Austria’s potential concern, this technical opinion sets out requirements for the Environmental Impact Statement (UVE) to be presented in the next step of the procedure, based on an assessment of the scoping document.
