Dataset description
Against the background of a steadily increasing demand for plastics, scarce fossil resources and the action plan on the circular economy package adopted by the European Commission in 2015, the Federal Environment Agency has collected the collection, treatment and fate of plastic waste in Austria. In 2015, approximately 920,000 tonnes of plastic waste was generated. The report focuses on detailed quantities by type of waste and plastic content, according to major types of plastics (quality), as well as by industry origin and areas of application. Waste imports and exports were also included. In addition, the report contains information on the state of the art in the treatment of plastic waste at national and European level and an assessment of future developments in the field of plastic waste.
