Renewable energy scenario 2030 and 2050

The Federal Environment Agency has developed a renewable energy scenario, which will achieve a major decarbonisation of the energy system by 2050. Assumptions have been made for all energy sectors that lead to increased efficiency or substitution of fossil fuels. This requires structural changes and technological developments. The scenario shows that greenhouse gas emissions from the use of fossil fuels can be reduced by 60 % by 2030 and 90 % by 2050 (compared to 2005), and energy consumption by 20 % by 2030 (compared to 2010). The share of renewables will rise to 61 % by 2030 and 91 % by 2050. The renewable energy scenario was created on behalf of the Austrian Biomass Association, IG Windkraft and Save Energy Austria.
