Dataset description

Since 1990, road traffic performance has been increasing, and thus the increase in greenhouse gas emissions — a development which is clearly contrary to environmental policy objectives. The introduction of electric mobility should be regarded as the most promising technological development to reduce the use of fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions from motorised individual transport. In this report, an assessment of the fleet stock of electric vehicles up to 2020 is carried out using different scenarios. In one, the fleet stock grows to 174,000 vehicles, which represents a share of almost 3.4 % of the total Austrian fleet. The share of new registrations can rise to about 18 % by then. This would save 660,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions from electric mobility.
