Measures for a more sustainable use of resources in Austria can also reduce CO2 emissions and thus contribute to climate protection. This synergy effect was confirmed by a model-based analysis in the areas of residential buildings and passenger car transport. Resource-reducing measures should therefore be implemented together with climate protection measures in order to achieve the most positive impact possible in both thematic areas. The income rebound effect, which is clearly visible in macroeconomic modelling, can be mitigated by comprehensive accompanying measures. A socially acceptable design is central here.
