Volunteer engagement in the future!

Emergency organisations and their volunteers form the backbone of civil protection in Austria. Already today, demographic trends and structural changes pose challenges for volunteering, which are further exacerbated by the climate change. More frequent and violent extreme weather events lead to an increased risk to people, settlements, infrastructures and industrial areas. In order to successfully address these challenges, new strategies for volunteering, for public and private protection measures and for target group-friendly communication are crucial. In addition to climatic changes, economic and social effects for the development of sustainable measures were also taken into account.
