The air quality indicator (AQ) per entity is calculated from the air quality data recorded in real time by the 23 telemetric stations of the Walloon QA monitoring network (ISSeP-AwAC). The indicator is adimensional and reflects the level of ambient air quality in each entity in Wallonia relative to the regional average, for three types of pollutants that are among the most problematic in terms of human health (ozone — O3, oxides of nitrogen — NO2 and fine particles — PM).
The more negative the indicator is, the better the AQ in reference to the average AQ in Wallonia. The more positive the indicator is, the worse the AQ in the entity in reference to the average AQ in Wallonia.
More detailed air quality indicators are available in the report on the state of the Walloon environment or on “\2(\1)” in the section ‘environmental components and environmental-health links’, ‘air and climate’.
