List of all Flemish bathing waters with their location. 1. This Directive lays down provisions for: the monitoring and classification of bathing water quality; the management of bathing water quality, and (c) providing information on bathing water quality to the public. 2. The aim of this Directive is to preserve, protect and improve the quality of the environment and to protect human health, in addition to Directive 2000/60/EC. This Directive shall apply to any surface water where, as expected by the competent authority, a large number of people will swim, and where swimming is not permanently prohibited or for which there is no permanent negative bathing advice (hereinafter referred to as “swimming water”). It shall not apply to: swimming pools and health baths; enclosed waters being treated or used for therapeutic purposes; artificially created waters separated from surface water and groundwater.
