Biologische landbouw

In 2020, the success of organic farming is once again undeniable. All indicators confirm that the sector continues to grow. Between 2019 and 2020, the number of organic farms increased by 4.9 %, which corresponds to an increase of 6.4 % in the number of areas converted and under conversion. Organic farming now accounts for 7.2 % of the agricultural area used. 90.8 % of the area used for this type of farming is located in Wallonia. The margin for increase is therefore the highest in the north of the country. For example, the organic pig population in Flanders has grown by 58.6 % over one year. 48.4 % of the Belgian organic pig population is now located in Flanders. Finally, organic poultry farming is increasing by 12.7 % mainly in Wallonia.
