Building block City of Antwerp Summary:
A building block is a collection of adjacent plots, surrounded by infrastructure, located in residential area. It is an urban figure, a building block of the city that, to a large extent, determines the fabric. The whole or most of a building block consists of dwellings or functions that are compatible with dwellings; or it has at least the morphological properties (size, shape, accessibility...) to realise homes on it. The basic model of the building block is a closed building block. The cell wall, the whole of the buildings along the street, is the boundary between the public space and the inner area. This interior area is paved in gardens. If there is another function in addition to the gardens, such as a shed, this inner area also has a pit.
