Emission of NMVOCs to air

The term Volatile Organic Fabrics (VOC) covers a wide variety of organic substances with a vapour pressure of at least 0.1 kPa at normal temperature and pressure. Non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs) enter the atmosphere by: • industrial process emissions • industrial and domestic use of solvents (including in paints, degreasers and degreasers) via evaporation • combustion processes • emissions from transport A number of non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs) are carcinogenic (benzene, vinyl chloride, 1,3-butadiene). In addition, NMVOOS as an ozone precursor (precursor) play a role in photochemical air pollution and in the formation of secondary particulate matter. Some NMVOCs, mainly of industrial origin, cause odour nuisance.
