Geological cross profiles

In 2003, at the request of the then Ministry of the Flemish Community, the Department of Natural Resources and Energy (ANRE) — the current ALBON, Department of Land and Soil Protection, Underground, Natural Resources of the Department of LNE — was commissioned to draw up geological profiles throughout the Tertiary. Seven geological cross profiles were drawn throughout the Tertiary, spread throughout Flanders. These profiles cut through the main geological phenomena of the Tertiary, but also include the Quartair and the deeper subsurface. Based on the selection of a thousand representative boreholes from DOV, 5 north-south profiles and 2 east-west profiles were drawn. The drills used are never further than 5 km away from the profile line. Although the mapping dates back to 2003 and also worked with the data at the time in DOV and in the literature, the results of this assignment are still representative.
