Flanders is made up of a variety of aquifers (sand, gravel, chalk, solid rock,...) and non-aquifering layers (e.g. clay). The succession of these aquifers and aquitards was modelled in Flanders in the hydrogeological 3D model of Flanders (H3Dv2). The hydrogeological 3D model (H3Dv2) was modelled on 3 different levels of detail: the main units, the subunits and the basic units. This grid model combines the different individual grids of the H3Dv2 model into one grid file with in the different bands the base layers in mTAW of the individual main, sub and base units.
