This map indicator shows per ha the number of households well or very well equipped with regional facilities within cycling distance. The map showing the level of ‘basic facilities per ha’ is divided into four categories: moderate, limited, well and very well equipped. Only for those areas that are well and very well-equipped is the map of households 2013 used and thus limited to those areas. Therefore, households with limited or moderate coverage by regional provisions are not shown. What provisions have been taken into account to define the regional facilities can be found in the final report of the study: Verachtert, E., I. Mayeres, L. Poelmans, M. Van der Meulen, M. Vanhulsel, G. Engelen (2016), development opportunities based on junction value and proximity facilities. This study was carried out by VITO on behalf of the Department of Space Flanders and published on 29-02-2016. See https://www.ruimtelijkeordening.be/NL/Diensten/Onderzoek/Studies/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/8954 To determine (an approximation of) the number of households per ha, the indicator ‘household density per ha’ was used that was created in the following way. The population dataset describes the location and number of inhabitants per address using a point file. This file (beta version) was created by Agentschap Informatie Vlaanderen (AIV) on the basis of data from the Rijksregister (date of 2 March 2013). The locations were determined by geocoding of the addresses based on CRAB (2013 version). The number of addresses in the dataset was used as proxy for the number of households. .Based on the AIV’s points file, the number of households per hectare was initially calculated by summarising the number of objects in the address data set per hectare cell. The biggest outliers were removed from the map.
