The influent freight is the freight of a pollutant due to an RWZI. The influent freight is mainly composed of domestic and industrial cargoes. In addition, diffuse sources, such as atmospheric deposition, can also contribute to the influent cargo via parasitic connections.
The effluent freight is the residual freight after treatment of the waste water discharged by a RWZI into surface water. The effluent cargo therefore taxes the surface water. The proportion of RWZI effluents in total surface water pollution ranges from 15 % for nitrogen to 35 % for chemical oxygen consumption.
The total flow rate that accrues to the RWZIs largely follows the annual rate.
