The ‘mineral model Leem’ is the first voxel model drawn up by VITO on behalf of the Flemish government, Departement LNE, Department of Natural Resources. The volume model shows the Quartaire (Niveo)-elolic loam deposits in Flanders. These loam deposits are part of the East-West oriented European loam belt. These sediments are still important in the brick, and more generally, the ceramic industry. These late-Pleistocene clay deposits occur in the southern part of Flanders and cover older Quartaire and Neogene and Paleogene sediments. The model divides the loam package into volume units of 100*100*0.5 m. The model is accessed via the Delfstoffen Explorer on DOV.
