Mobiscore per ha

The geodata layer ‘mobiscore per ha’ shows the final, total mobi score per hectare cell within the Flemish Region as a score between 0 and 10. The Mobiscore is a sensitising tool that wants movers to think about the possible environmental impact of relocations from their potential new home. The Mobiscore calculates the distance to different types of facilities nearby: shops and restaurants, childcare and schools, doctors and hospitals, sports and cultural infrastructure and public transport. The score shall take into account the expected number of journeys for specific facilities and the means of transport that an average Flame would use for these movements. In addition, the Mobiscore takes into account the environmental costs (air pollution, congestion, noise pollution,...) of that means of transport. The higher the Mobi score of a particular location, the easier it is to reach certain clusters of amenities on foot or by bike, and thus the more limited the mobility and environmental impact of homes in this area. This information can be taken into account as one of the factors in the decision-making process about the residential location. The scores can be consulted via the website www.mobiscore.be The Mobiscore instrument was updated in 2021, as well as some methodological adjustments in response to the evaluation of the first version.
